MGM Resorts Employees in Las Vegas turned out in record numbers during this year's Susan. G Komen Race for the Cure event downtown.
Between the official MGM Resorts team runners and the employee volunteers in the Company-sponsored Kids for the Cure activities area, the Company had well over 200 employees downtown on Saturday morning showing their support for Komen and for the community.
"This is the fourth year of our partnership to celebrate breast cancer survivors and support the women and families who struggle with the disease," said MGM Resorts Director of Diversity Relations Maria Gatti. "Our support is heartfelt. We don't just take care of our guests. We take care of each other."
Thousands of kids and parents explored the Kids for the Cure area, where volunteers – many of them from Circus Circus Las Vegas – led children and more than a few adults through carnival-style games and activities for fun prizes.
On the race course itself, MGM Grand's own Michelle White, who had been named the race's New Balance Honorary Survivor, finished the event in first place in the survivor's category, just weeks after finishing her final radiation treatment in her own battle with breast cancer.
"I'm here to run today and celebrate this new chapter of my life with all of my new survivor friends and supporters," she said from the event's main stage.
