Spotlight: Art & Armor

For centuries, Japanese history has honored the culture, lifestyle and art of the samurai warrior. Discover this incredible legacy at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s newest display, SAMURAI, debuting November 3. The exhibit includes more than 40 pieces from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection, featuring full suits of armor, helmets, weapons, horse armor, masks and more. The exquisitely crafted pieces represent the evolution of the samurai warrior’s appearance and equipment from the 12th - 19th centuries.

Featured objects were used for both combat and ceremonial purposes, showcasing the complete story of the samurai – who not only fought in battle, but also practiced the arts of poetry and calligraphy. Japanese society recognized the advancement of the samurai as a great honor: from archers and swordsmen to an elite class of warriors respected for their military skills, refinement and intellect. Discover the rich and fascinating history through April 2018. Purchase tickets online or at the box office.
