Status Match Challenge is a way for MGM Rewards members who hold VIP status in an eligible competitor program to experience Gold or Platinum Tier Status in MGM Rewards, with the chance to accelerate tier progression in MGM Rewards.
All new and existing Sapphire, Pearl and Gold MGM Rewards members with elite status in a competitor’s eligible casino loyalty program.
Visit any MGM Rewards desk in-person and present a valid, current year VIP status loyalty card for an eligible competitor program, along with your valid government-issued photo identification. Once approved, you will receive an instant 90-day upgrade to Gold or Platinum, based on your current status with another eligible casino loyalty program.

A current year VIP status loyalty card for an eligible competitor program. The name on the loyalty card must match your valid government-issued photo identification.
Once your Status Match request is approved, you will automatically be enrolled in the Challenge with an opportunity to extend your 90-day Status Match upgrade by meeting the Challenge requirements:
- Gold Status Match Challenge Requirement: Earn 50,000 Tier Credits on certain eligible spend within 90 days after your match
- Platinum Status Match Challenge Requirement: Earn 150,000 Tier Credits on certain eligible spend within 90 days after your match
If you successfully complete the Challenge requirements, your status will be extended through January 31, 2028.

Yes! The Tier Credits you earn through onboard gaming play on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise ships count towards your Tier Credit balance.
Tier Credits earned as a statement credit through your MGM Rewards Mastercard do not count towards Challenge requirements. Additionally, Tier Credits earned through BetMGM (both online and at physical BetMGM Sportsbooks) do not qualify towards earning an Accelerator Tier Credit bonus.
As a reminder, taxes, gratuities, and complimentary redemptions are never eligible to earn Tier Credits.
Only Tier Credits earned on certain eligible spend during the 90-day Challenge Period count towards successfully meeting the requirements.
No, you do not automatically receive these benefits by receiving a Status Match upgrade or successfully completing the Status Match Challenge. During the applicable Tier Status Earning Year, members must earn 75,000 Tier Credits to be eligible to receive the Gold Tier Celebration Credit and 200,000 Tier Credits to be eligible to receive the Platinum Tier Celebration Credit, Air Travel Credit and Annual Cruise Benefit. If you did not successfully complete the Challenge requirements during your 90-day Status Match period, you will be reverted to your Tier Status prior to receiving a Status Match upgrade, unless you’ve received an elevated Tier Status during this time based on your eligible spend & Tier Credits earned during the Tier Status Earning Year (January 1 – December 31, 2026).
For linked accounts, both members will receive the Status Match upgrade to Gold or Platinum for the 90-day period beginning at the time of your Status Match. However, Challenge requirements must be earned individually by the member who requested and received approval for the Status Match upgrade, in order for such member to successfully complete the Challenge. Tier Credit balances from, or earned by, both linked accounts will not be combined for the purpose of successfully completing the Challenge requirements.
If Status Match Challenge requirements are successfully met, both accounts will receive an extension on their Gold or Platinum Status Match through January 31, 2028.
Your individual Challenge progress will be viewable on the MGM Rewards app and mgmrewards.com within 24 hours of your Status Match. Download the MGM Rewards app and sign into your account. Click “Rewards” and see “My Challenges”.
On mgmrewards.com, sign in, click your name in the top right corner, and click on “My Rewards” and see “My Challenges”. You can also visit the MGM Rewards desk for additional assistance tracking your progress.
You can start earning towards your Challenge requirements immediately upon receiving your Status Match upgrade. Then, starting the day after your upgrade, you have a full 90 days to complete the Challenge requirements.
